SPEAKER:  Ruairi MacNamara, from Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute (HSWRI).

TOPIC:  Aquaculture and fisheries replenishment research at Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute. Ruairi will discuss the biological and technical challenges of marine stocking, as well as the progress-to-date and future plans with California halibut, an important recreationally and commercially targeted species in the region.  More information at www.hswri.org/aquaculture-program-overview/.

Bio:  Ruairi MacNamara is a researcher at Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute (HSWRI), a non-profit scientific research organization founded in 1963. Ruari graduated with a B.Sc. in Marine Science and Ph.D. in Fish Ecology from the National University of Ireland, Galway. Prior to joining HSWRI in 2015, Ruairi spent two years as a fisheries biologist at Southern Illinois University. He is a graduate of the National University of Ireland, where he completed a BS in Marine Science and PhD in Fisheries Ecology.
